The Candy Man caaaaaaaan…..

Okay, for my first real post, I want to talk about my newest musical obsession of the past couple of days. It’s not Taylor/1989, even though I love it, and it’s not the Live Phish update that I’m on my free trial of and debating the subscription fee. It is Primus and the Chocolate Factory. I’ve always enjoyed the Primus and Les Claypool’s weirdness. When I heard about this, I was honestly a little scared because I’ve seen what the Flaming Lips have done with Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon. At the suggestion of a friend (who happened to catch the live show a few nights ago and was blown away), I decided to give it a spin.

And I haven’t stopped in two days. It’s that good.

Basically, this album is a reimagining of the soundtrack to Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. When they perform it live, they make a whole stage production of it and play it alongside the actual movie. (!!!!) It is twisted and creepy and perfect listening for this time of year. Not only do I love this album, it has me looking back into their older stuff for a refresher course.

You can tell that I like it, but I want to make sure you know. I like rating systems when I read reviews, so I decided to have my own. I give Primus & the Chocolate Factory 3 out of 4 old people sharing one bed. I would give it all 4, but it makes me sad that I might never have the chance to see it live.

Until next time…

The beginning…

Okay, giving this blogging thing a shot. Again. I’m making myself post at least twice a week. This blog is going to be where I can throw out my views on music, movies, tv, podcasts, and perhaps more things from time to time. I tend to clog my social media feeds with my nonsense, so I decided to find a place to park all of it.

So, read. Comment. Pass along to your friends. I’m not convinced I like how it looks yet, so it might undergo some cosmetic changes for the first couple of weeks until I’m happy. I am happy with the name, however. Here’s the background – when I get home each day, I announce, “I’m going to change into not these clothes.” It started as a funny thing I would say to make my husband laugh, until it became one of those things I just said, even when he stopped laughing. He suggested the name, stating that it’s one of the “Christa-isms” that I say a lot that is actually clean enough to be published on the internet.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I will post my first real post over the weekend. Maybe.
